Something I do most Sundays: prepping the garlic for the meals that I will be preparing during the week. It’s just a small thing, but it probably saves me 5-10 minutes of prep time for 2-3 meals. It’s still plenty fresh and I know what I am getting (you can buy containers of pre-peeled garlic, but it has usually been sitting around a while.)
I guess I’m a little behind (forgive me, but my un-played game queue is decades long) but Thronefall is a pretty fun little game! Great twist on my beloved tower defense genre. It’s also great on the Steam Deck!
Cloudflare is out here doing the lord’s work for those of us who generate content online (since if I mainly just shitpost, I figure I am doing humankind a favor by enabling this.)

I could not possibly more excited for season 2 of Severence to debute. The early reviews are all great, and the “promo” at Grand Central this week was brilliant marketing: deadline.com/2025/01/s…
I’ll admit that the first 2-3 episodes of the series were an incredibly slow burn and I almost gave up, but by the season finale I was willing to die for main characters. That final scene!
No matter the role — TV, movies, video games — Lance Reddick brought his A-game. RIP to an absolute legend who elevated everything he acted in. Gone too soon. What a loss for us all.
In the ride home, I made sure to share (with my teenage daughter and her friend) the greatest song ever written about a night light. The reaction was mixed. music.apple.com/us/album/…
In 11 months, I will make my final student loan payment! I probably would have had them paid off five years ago if not for a number of deferments I took over the years. The penance of being an occasionally unemployed political campaign nomad…
I’ve been back living on the east coast for six months now and one thing is still manifestly true: being a sports fan in the eastern time zone sucks. Especially as a fan of many west coast teams, but even as a fan of sports in general. Ugh.
Me to my 13-year old daughter: “you can’t name the sizes of batteries? How are you even my child?”
It’s that magical time of year when I buy a bunch of games on the Steam holiday sale that I will probably never play!
Kenji Lopez-Alt’s beef with brocolli never fails to delight.
I have a lot of thoughts about the Twitter situation, but nothing that treads any new ground. “Starting over” on Mastodon (an experiment for the moment) is a bit more interesting though. I’ve made a concious effort to not follow any overly political accounts – that includes political reporters, politicians, activists – and it has been refreshing in a way I could not have imagined.
Recently moved to New Hampshire and am not enjoying the complete lack of Mexican food. Now I’m in Florida for the week for work and am taking advantage of the local cuisine at every opportunity. Today I might have had the best tamale of my life. Food is magic.
